満開の「源太桜」に感動!!

樹齢３００年以上とも言われ「桜三里」の名称の由来と伝わる、市内河 之内のエドヒガンザクラ「源太桜」がほぼ満開となっている。毎年この時期に開催されている「源太桜まつり」が６日、絶好の天候に恵まれ、地元土谷地区で賑やかに開催された。国道１１号線沿いに車を停め、「旧金毘羅街道」と呼ばれる杉木立のなかの山道を歩く事約３０分、静かな山あいにひっそりと、それでいて厳としたその威容に圧倒される。３００年の時を経て咲く花を見上げていると、源太桜のこんな声が聞こえてきた。『最近、地球の様子が変だぞ！』
